Review: Sigma Make Me Crazy Set

Hello!

So today's post will be a short review of Sigma Make Me Crazy Set.
This set have been accompanying me since May 2015,
I think it's quite enough time for me to tell you my thoughts about this set.
Worth it or not? Let's see.

Below is description of the set from Sigma Beauty official website.

The Essential Kit - Make Me was specially designed for a fun yet functional makeup application. This kit contains twelve colorful brushes from our best-selling Essential Kit. The brushes come in an innovative and functional container that turns into two brush holders to keep you stylish and organized.

Brushes Included:
  • E05 - Eye Liner: Create smooth and even lines. Use with gel or liquid liners.
  • E30 - Pencil: Soften and smoke out lines. Soften pencil liners along the top and bottom lash lines, add shadow to line the eyes, or use to highlight inner corner of eyes.
  • E40 - Tapered Blending: Soft blended crease. Using just the tips to apply color, sweep back and forth through the crease for a diffused and blended finish.
  • E55 - Eye Shading: Even application of color. Place color across the whole lid for an even and strong application of product.
  • E60 - Large Shader: Uniformly cover the whole lid with product. Apply cream shadow base or cream shadow for quick and even coverage.
  • E65 - Small Angle: Create precise lining. Moves fluidly and easily across the upper and lower lash lines. Use with gel, cream or powder liners.
  • E70 - Medium Angled Shading: Soft application of color. Use for brow highlighting or to blend the crease.
  • F30 - Large Powder: Even powder application .Uniform blending of powder products onto the face and body.
  • F40 - Large Angled Contour: Cheek application. Use the angle to softly contour the cheekbone. Can also be used to apply blush.
  • F50 - Duo Fibre: Creates an airbrush effect onto the skin. Can be used with powder, liquid or cream products.
  • F60 - Foundation: Smooth foundation application. Apply liquid or cream products such as foundation and primer.
  • F70 - Concealer: Conceal small areas. Conceal the hardest to reach areas such as around the nose and eyes.

So, the Essential Kit - Make Me was originally come in 4 choices of color: Classic (Black), Pink, Blue, and Crazy (Purple). At the time I am writing this post, only the Classy available on the website. Maybe the other color has discontinued?

Sorry the color look darker because of shadow. It is purple!

Overall, the brush set is complete enough to cover your daily usage, from face to eyes. I will tell you in order brushes that I like, do not like, and the ones I feel neutral with.

There are certain brushes that I am using more regular than the others, which are:
- F40 - Large Angled Contour
- F30 - Large Powder

To be honest, I don't wear eye makeup everyday, but when I do, I found myself to reach for these brushes more often:
- E40 - Tapered Blending
- E55 - Eye Shading

Oh my God, out of 12 brushes I only reach for 4 brushes? Yes, and those are my favorites of this set since I ever got this.

Also I have few brushes that I just don't like:

- F60 - Foundation
This brush is so scratchy to apply foundation with. And it gives streaky result! I use this to apply mask instead.

- E60 - Large Shader
This brush should change its name into Huge Shader to correctly described what it is used to. This brush is so huge even with 1 touch it has already cover your whole eyelid. I am a monolid with small eyes btw, maybe people with bigger eyes should be fine with this?

- F50 - Duo Fibre
For this brush, I don't know, maybe it's just me. I always get those streaky lines using this. I tried to apply foundation (big NO!). Maybe should try it to apply blush instead but this is too big for my apple.

For the rest of the set are the ones I thought they are just okay,
not too special but they are not bad either.

Conclusion

So, out of 12, 3 of them are duds.
And only 4 of them keep me coming back.
Is it worth it? I guess not really.
Let me show you a little comparison here:

Make Me Crazy Set $179 (from $228 value, save $49)

The duds:
- F60 retail price $22
- E60 retail price $17
- F50 retail price $27

Duds in total $56

*) price as of October 2016

On the other hand, as I also bought other individual brushes from Sigma,
I think they are overall in good quality and perform really well.

If you are considering to buy a set from Sigma,
I will definitely recommend this set:

MOST-WANTED BRUSH SET

PRODUCT CODE
MWS001

I really really really (see how serious I am? lol) love the Sigma F80.
It really was the.best.purchase.of.Sigma.ever!

As you can see, I have the E30 and E40 from Make Me Crazy set.
I purchase F80, F35 and E25 separately. And I love them all.
I don't think any of this set is a dud.

I personally think it's better to purchase this set
and complete it with buying individually
(like powder brush, contouring brush,
even another set of eye brush, if you're into it).
